6 May 2007 After a period as interim pastor and prayer Rev. Dwight D. Hargrove was called to become Zion Hill's 11th pastor. Oct. 2003 The multimedia ministry was created while Rev. James Johnson was pastor. 9 April 1996 Rev. Jarvis Bailey accepts the calling as pastor of Zion hill Baptist and under his leadership and teaching the children's play area and pavilion were completed. 22 Sept. 1991 Rev Joseph Smith became Zion Hill's 8th pastor. Oct 1987 The construction of the indoor baptismal pool was completed while Rev. Ernest Hickerson served as pastor 6 Oct. 1978 While Rev. Robert Brown served as pastor most of the ministries still in action to this day were started under his leadership. The church constitution was created with the tradition of the annual family day. 9 April 1975 Rev. James Jackson resided as pastor for a brief period. During this time Vacation Bible School was started. 24 July 1963 Rev. Albert Jackson accepts the calling as pastor and the church building as it appears today was completed with added rooms, basement over the next 10 years. 1951 Rev. John E. Crump became the fulltime pastor after a brief internship. The Pastor's Aid Club and Baptist Training Union was formed under his leadership 1918 Under Rev. Harry J. Ellis the ministries of the Sunday School, Usher Board, Mother's Club, Missionary Circle and Senior Choir. 1906 First church building was constructed under the leadership of Rev. W. C. Young 10 April 1897 William H. Cook donated 3 acres of land for the construction of Zion Hill Baptist' congregation. Oct. 1880 With the aid of Wilderness Baptist Church Zion Hill Baptist church was planted under Rev. R. B. Townes who served as first pastor. |
